How to Recover Data If the Active Partition is Unable to Boot

In the windows system, the Microsoft management console (MMC) module provides disk management. This function enables you to administer the system disks like marking partitions as active, creating or deleting partitions and so on.  However, the system may not boot sometimes, in case you mark a partition as active. This can happen due to several reasons. There are numerous ways to resolve this situation. Different methods can be performed to solve this problem. In case, these different methods are not capable of resolving the situation in the required way then advance partition recovery software can be used to do so.

Suppose you consider a scene having windows 2000. You have marked the primary partition as the active partition with the help of disk management utility. However, the marked partitions do not include the imperative boot files. So, when you start your computer system now, it fails to boot and displays an error message saying, “NTLDR is missing”. The major cause of this situation is that the boot files are absent in the marked archive partition and that’s why the system is not able to boot.

In case of the Intel-based systems, marked archive partitions are the primary partitions that are situated internally on the disk. There can be only one single active partition at one particular point of time. When you decide to install and use another operating system then be sure that you mark its system partition as active before restarting the system. Generally, the boot files contain ntdetect, ntldr and boot.ini.

Various methods can be followed for data recovery  and to resolve this situation. One of the methods is that you can change the active partition with help of a floppy disk to boot and then use the disk utilities to manually change the active partition. Another method would be looking to install a different windows instance in a parallel location but there should be enough disk space, when you decide to opt for this method. Once the installation is done you should use the disk management utility and change the active partition.

The next method says that you should enter the windows data recovery console and use the fix boot command to boot the active partition. Once the system has been booted, you should change the active partition from the disk management function, then you can restart the computer and the system will be working fine now.

Even after trying out all these methods, you are unable to boot the system then you can go for third party data recovery software to reinstate the trapped data. These read-only tools have a rich user interface. The rich user interface can help you easily recover partition. After trying out so many different ways, you will certainly use advance  partition recovery software even if the archive partition is unable to boot.
There are different type of data recovery softwares available in the market. Some the most important softwares are listed below:
